CA.gov Locator is the one-stop mobile directory that provides location and contact details for California government service centers and offices, right from your iPhone or iPod Touch. The application has been developed in collaboration with the California State Portal, CA.gov and the data has been provided by California State Agencies/Departments.

View / Search services
View a list of California State Government services. Currently, the list includes service centers and office locations for Employment Development Department's One Stop Career Centers, Department of Motor Vehicles field offices, Public Libraries, among others. This list is centrally managed and continually updated with additional services and locations. The CA.gov Locator downloads the updates as they become available. You can choose to download the data on demand, or automatically, by choosing appropriate setting on the Settings screen.

View / Search offices
This screen displays a list of offices for the selected service near your current location. The office locations are grouped by county. If the iPhone / iPod Touch cannot determine your current location through GPS or due to unavailability of Wi-Fi access, the CA.gov Locator will search near your preferred zip code. Please visit the Settings screen to change the search range or zip code.

Office address and contact details
Select an office or service center to see the detailed contact information. You can navigate from this screen to access the maps and directions for the office address, call or email, or browse the office website.

- Bookmark the selected office for easy access later, adding it to your Favorites list by clicking on

My Favorites
This screen displays your favorite bookmarked locations. By adding your location to the favorites list, you can access them easily without having to search through the locations list.

- Click on the "Edit" button to edit and delete locations from your favorites.
Search Settings
The CA.gov locator is a location-aware application, and uses the current location of the iPhone or iPod Touch for filtering the offices near you. If the location can not be determined, or if you choose not to use the location service, the Ca.gov Locator uses the user-provided zip code.
- Change the "Search Range" to configure search area for locations "near" you
- Switch "Use Zip Code" to "ON" to search near your preferred zip code. Provide your preferred "Zip Code".
- With this option, the location service will not be used for the search, hence the searches will be not from the current location, but the provided zip code.
Download Settings
The CA.gov locator uses an extensible framework to ensure that the services and location information can be easily added and updated to provide the most current information to users. The framework is supported by a web-based database repository to manage the information, and secure access for State staff to update the information. The CA.gov Locator downloads the latest services and office locations information from this web-based repository. Users can choose to download these updates automatically or on demand.
- Switch "Auto Download" to "ON" to download the latest updates automatically, checking each time the application is started.
- If "Auto Download" is "OFF", you will see a "Download Now" button, which allows the user to download the updates on demand.
